COERR Mae Hong Son Organized Environmental Education

On October 23-24, 2013, the environmental education based on the theory of Three forests, four benefits, introduced by His Majesty the King, was taught. The Three forests, four benefits theory is that three types of forests should be grown: lumber, edible products and commercial timber; the fourth benefit is soil and water conservation. The theory of 3 R (Reduce, reuse and recycle) is also taught to raise awareness in environment protection for 40 youths in Mae La camp. The first day focused on 4 group activities for youths to practice team-working, thinking process, planning, management and problem solving.

The second day focused on the learning of “Three forests, Four benefits’ and 3R’s Waste Management, together with VDO presentation for faster understanding. The last section was waste separation practice to test their understanding.
